![]() When struggling in a match I noticed that once I start to complete a few drive goals and weekly challenges things would turn my way as confidence goes up. While there is no penalty for not completing them, they do offer significant rewards in terms of player XP and confidence. Players and coaches will have season and weekly goals that will increase their skill and legacy rating, while there is also the addition of in-game drive goals such as ‘Don’t allow a passing TD’, or ‘Have Aaron Rodgers (you might have picked up I’m a Packers fan) complete four passes on this drive’. Guiding your team through multiple seasons and winning as many titles as possible is still the goal but short term ones have also been added. You can still chose to play as a single custom or real player – or the more fun option of being the coach. On the other hand, Franchise Mode has been significantly improved. There are only minor changes compared to last year’s outing, but as everything worked well last time out that isn’t an issue. Ultimate Team mode remains what you would expect otherwise, and is still the one many people will exclusively play. This means that after putting in a few hours work into Draft Champions, you will already have a decent MUT squad and won’t have those first few hours to put up with. Once your run is over, you will be given some form of reward, which is usually a pack for the Ultimate Team mode. A loss will result in your run being over and having to draft a new team, but the more wins you get the better the reward at the end. Once your team is ready to go you are set free to play up to four games (three against the CPU) with your squad. You never know what players will pop up in any given round, so you frequently come up with tough decisions such as whether to pass on a decent but not top quality QB such as Eli Manning (in hope that a better option pops up down the line), or to take him and hope Aaron Rodgers doesn’t then become available. It gives you 15 draft rounds where you select one of three players to add to your randomly generated base squad. While Draft Champions was initially billed as the mode for fantasy football fans, it can be seen as more of an Ultimate Team-light, and perhaps not the mode fantasy football fans wanted. In Madden NFL 16 a solution has finally been found to that issue, and it comes in the form of the new Draft Champions mode. 6.Ultimate Team is the premier game mode in almost all of the EA sports titles, but for those first few hours where you are forced to play with a makeshift team of poor players, it always feels like a grind just to get a better team, and lacks the enjoyment factor. I would not recommend getting this title. The franchise looks to have increasingly pushed micro transaction from year to year and it has become a real problem, but that is EA for you. They could take a note from 2k in that department and make it feel a little more real. I am not saying that career mode was perfect but it was far better then what we have now. You would workout for teams and then get drafted. In 09 there was the opportunity to import a player from the NCAA game and continue the career in the NFL. whatever it is called hasn't been fun since Madden 09 where you actually felt like a NFL player instead of a generic generated player. ![]() They have never fixed the secondary AI problem that leaves a whole in the flats area that gets exploited way to much that eventually makes the game not enjoyable. The game play really doesn't change year to year, the only change made this year was the catching option of possession, aggressive, or RAC which felt too arcadey to me. ![]() The Salary Cap Beta looks promising if they decide to have it in next years game but that will not change my mind on purchasing Madden 17. In 13 it was easier to complete sets and the cards didn't cost as much to obtain, now it is almost impossible to complete the sets without paying for packs. The micro transaction have become too necessary in order to win, well unless you commit a lot of time to it. I have been playing MUT since the Madden 13 installment and can now safely say I am burned out. I will only be talking about MUT and the modes attached to it as well as connected career as that is what I play. ![]()
